Amazing detox waters to keep you hydrated this summer

In case you hadn’t noticed, it’s June! The tasty treats of Christmas and Easter seem like a distant memory and that wish for a sunshine filled summer is setting in. So we wanted to showcase the world of fun, fruity & tasty waters to help you have a tip top, hydrated summer!

First up is a warm but essential basic in the detox world, lemon water.shutterstock_423081646

Starting your day with a mug of warm water and lemon, helps to aid your digestive system by flushing out toxins left over from the night before. For best results and optimal drinking temperature, it’s best to try this simple blend with lukewarm water and just one slice of lemon. We gave the ‘more is better approach’ with our lemons this week and let’s just say, it wasn’t so tasty!

For a full on diuretic, try a cold blend of mint, lemon & orange.


Let it seep in your fridge over night to dilute the fruits and enjoy slowly throughout the next day. Be careful not to drink the entire blend in one go, it’s designed to be enjoyed at a slow pace!

Next up are Blueberries.


Blueberries are low in calories but nutrient dense, with an average 100 gram portion contains just 57 calories, 0% fat and 16% of your daily recommended dose of vitamin C! Place 100 grams of blueberries to 1 Litre of water and enjoy this tasty dose of antioxidants. If you fancy a super cold variation, blend the blueberries and water together with ice. It’s our personal favourite!

Meet Watermelon, dubbed the new superfood this summer!


Watermelon is mostly water itself, but yet provides a sweet and refreshing taste. It makes a great combination with either mint or blueberries for a refreshing, calorie free summer drink. We recommend blending watermelon with super cold water and adding in some whole fresh fruits at the end. You can even replace still water for sparkling to give it an extra zing!

Feeling inspired we gathered the crew at mySupermarket HQ to give some of these a whirl. Lets just say we were pretty popular this  morning and went down a storm. Opinions ranged from ‘it’s tasty and clean, to ‘this is so much better than just plain water with mint, I’m definitely trying it again’.

Our verdict? This so tasty that it might just become a regular event. Also, as they’re almost calorie-free and full of flavour, they’re a healthy treat!

The possibilities of fruit waters really are endless. We stick by the golden rule of drinking the blends within a maximum of 3 days, anything longer and the blend may begin to stagnate.

Get creative and get your kids involved too! Ask them their favourite colour, favourite flavour of sweets or simply their favourite fruit and surprise them with a brightly coloured tasty concoction that is healthy, hydrating and great to look at too!
